Untangled; Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions Into Adulthood (updated, 2025 edition)

Dr. Lisa Damour’s excellent book, Untangled:  Guiding Teenage Girls Through the Seven Transitions Into Adulthood, originally published in 2016, has been revised and updated for 2025!  Join this group, facilitated by Sarah Hardy, M.Ed, for a deep dive into this comprehensive, practical, and affirming book for parents of girls in Middle School (grades 6-8 / ages 11 - 14).  This class will be a supportive, intimate community for those who feel challenged by the demands of parenting their young adolescent girl, those who are curious about the current evidence- based information about girls’ development,  and/or who are interested in strategies for building and maintaining a strong, healthy and lifelong parent/child relationship.    Exploring one chapter per month, we’ll walk through adolescent development in the order of Dr. Damour’s “Seven Transitions”, from “Parting with Childhood” all the way to “Caring for Herself,” discussing how her wisdom applies to our girls and families.  Parents who are not able to find time to read before each class, fear not - we’ll start each meeting with a summary of the key points from each chapter.

This group will meet on the following Mondays, 7:00-8:30 pm:

2025: Oct 20 * Nov 17 * Dec 8 

2026: Jan 5 * Feb 2 (zoom) * Mar 23 (zoom) * April 27 * May 18

Notes:

• In-person classes (6 of the 8) will be at the Edina Senior Center (5280 Grandview Square, Edina, MN)

• Two class meetings  (Feb & Mar) will be held via zoom.  

• Cost for Eight 90-minute meetings is $300 per parent 

• Untangled books are not included with tuition.

• Class will have a minimum of 8, maximum of 14 parents. 

• Financial assistance is available on a case by case basis.
